School to Prison Pipeline

The American Civil Liberties Union has posted its School to Prison Pipeline Game to increase awareness of the problem of students with disabilities and minority students being disproportionally incarcerated. The game provides an interactive way for people to learn about this important issue.

OLRS protects students' rights, and advocates that youth with disabilities who are in jeopardy of incarceration be appropriately served by local school districts. OLRS collaborates with juvenile court officials, and provides them with information and education on the rights of students with disabilities.

In 2008, OLRS provided trainings, and post-training consultation and technical assistance to over 450 individuals to stop the school to prison pipeline. These individuals were from the Supreme Court of Ohio Judicial College, five county juvenile courts, and a parent advocacy organization.
