LRS Commission
The Legal Rights Service (LRS) Commission was created by the Ohio General Assembly in 1986. Three Commissioners are appointed by the Speaker of the Ohio House; three by the President of the Ohio Senate, and the seventh, the Chair, by the Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court. The Commission is the governing authority of LRS.

Meetings
The Commission meets at least four times a year. The meetings are usually held at the offices of LRS at 50 West Broad Street in Columbus. Meeting times are generally 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. If you would like to attend a meeting and need interpreter services or other special accommodations, please contact LRS at least one week before the scheduled meeting.

Commission Study
Language included in House Bill (HB) 1 (the biennial budget bill) required the LRS Commission to conduct a study concerning a potential transition of federal protection and advocacy grants from a public entity to a non-profit organization effective July 1, 2011. The study was completed in January 2010 and approved by the LRS Commission. Read more:
