IRS provides assistance for people with disabilities

February 17, 2012

In the spirit of tax season, Ohio Legal Rights Service reminds individuals who are blind or visually impaired that hundreds of the most popular federal tax forms and publications from the IRS can be downloaded for use. Visit the IRS Accessibility page to download these forms and publications. Also available is a video that highlights IRS products and services available for people with disabilities.

Free tax refund assistance is available from local IRS tax assistance centers, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) or Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE). You can also find a nearby VITA or TCE location by calling 1-800-906-9887. The IRS offers another service, Free File which allows all taxpayers to file online. See LRS’ Tax Preparation Resources for People with Disabilities  web page for additional resources.
