Online Learning Center

The Ohio Legal Rights Service (LRS) Online Learning Center offers online self-paced tutorials on disability-related topics. The tutorials are developed by LRS and are for people with disabilities, advocates, professionals and the general public to use. Currently, two tutorials are offered.

Project Vote – Online Voter Education Tool Kit

The Project Vote Online Voter Education Tool Kit is a training program for self-advocates who are people with disabilities to teach about the importance of the right to vote and how the voting process works. The information for this online Tool Kit was adapted from the Project Vote Voter Education Tool Kit created by the National Center for Self Determination & 21st Century Leadership; Moore Advocacy Consulting; Oklahoma People First, RRTC on Aging and Developmental Disabilities University of Illinois at Chicago; Self-Advocates Becoming Empowered (S.A.B.E.).

Special Education and the Juvenile Justice System

The Special Education and the Juvenile Justice System tutorial is designed for Guardian ad Litems, attorneys, court personnel, parents and others working with students with disabilities in the juvenile justice system. The tutorial covers:

• the rights of students with disabilities;
• special education and related services, including behavioral supports;
• the responsibilities of local school districts; and
• resources to support students and families.

Work Incentives Seminar Event (WISE)

The Work Incentives Seminar Event (WISE) is designed for Social Security beneficiaries who want to return to work. The tutorial is based on Social Security's WISE program and covers "work incentives," which are Social Security's rules that make it possible for people with disabilities receiving disability benefits to explore work options and still receive benefits until they reach their work goals.
